BIBLICAL REFERENCE TO GIANTS ON THE EARTH AFTER THE FLOOD OF NOAH:

Continuing through the Old Testament, one finds numerous further verses touching on the subject of giants, in a comparison to Bigfoot/Sasquatch. Other passages dealing with them include Num. 13; Deut. 1, 3, 9; Josh. 11, 12; I Sam. 17; 2 Sam. 21; and I Chr. 20. As they undertook the conquest of the Promised Land under Joshua and continued to extend their dominion over it into the time of David, the Israelites reported a number of encounters with the enormous men known as the Rephaim and Anakim. It should be noted that Numbers 13:33 reports the spies saying that "the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim," but this is likely nothing more than their personal opinion which Moses simply reports, rather than a statement of fact. Most Bible translations include this phrase as part of the spies' quoted words, not as a separate parenthetical observation by Moses; and further, the phrase is textually suspect, being absent from the Septuagint, and scholars such as Eryl Davies (commentary on Numbers in the New Century Bible Commentary) regard it as an explanatory scribal gloss rather than part of the original text. For these reasons, it is safest to understand Numbers 13:33 as simply expressing the opinion of some that the size of the sons of Anak brought the Nephilim to mind.

Regardless of whether the Anakim were actually related to the Nephilim, it is obvious that the Israelites were dealing with giants. If our understanding is correct that a cubit was approximately 18 inches, then Goliath, at "six cubits and a span," was somewhat over 9 feet tall. Og, the King of Bashan whose bed is described in Deut. 3:11 as being about 14 feet long by 6 feet wide, was thought to be 10 to 12 feet tall. As difficult as it may be for us to imagine such huge people today -- Shaquille O'Neal is a mere stripling compared to them! -- the clear impression one receives from these reports is that they record factual information, not mere legend. If we consider for a moment that from dogs we can breed not only toy poodles but also mastiffs, we ought to keep an open mind to the size possibilities incorporated by the Creator into the genes of the earliest humans.

According to Genesis 6:2-4 of our Bibles we find part of the heavenly host to be the sons of God. A group of the angels who sided with Satan. Who finding human women attractive, came down to earth and took them as wives. The children born to them became the Nephilim, giants on the earth, before and after the flood of Noah. As a result, God put the sons of God in chains and threw them into prison to await judgement at the end of this age, for their disobedience and for leaving their heavenly estate and are known as the fallen angels. However, the Nephilim/giants of the earth were half human and half from the heavenly estate with nowhere for their spirit/souls to go. They were relegated by God to remain and to roam the earth until the day of judgement. To find other bodies to enter into, as demons, such as found in Lk.8:26-33, as we might see where Bigfoot/Sasquatch comes into the picture.

Native-American totum poles found in the Pacific Northwest reveal such a creature was depicted some hundreds of years ago. So far, no evidence has ever been found of a dead corps of any of these creatures. Many sightings have also been reported in the British Columbian, Vancouver and Vancouver Island regions.

1811: On January 7, 1811, David Thompson, a surveyor and trader for the North West Company, spotted large, well-defined footprints in the snow near Athabasca River, Jasper, Alberta, while attempting to cross the Rocky Mountains.

1834: Mormon Missionary David W. Patten recounts : "As I was riding along the road on my mule I suddenly noticed a very strange personage walking beside me…. His head was about even with my shoulders as I sat in my saddle. He wore no clothing, but was covered with hair. His skin was very dark. I asked him where he dwelt and he replied that he had no home, that he was a wanderer in the earth and traveled to and fro".

1840: Protestant missionary Reverend Elkanah Walker recorded myths of hairy giants that were persistent among Native Americans living in Spokane, Washington. The Indians reported that these giants steal salmon and have a strong smell.

1870: An account by a California hunter who claimed seeing a sasquatch scattering his campfire remains was printed in the Titusville, Pennsylvania Morning Herald on November 10, 1870.The incident reportedly occurred a year before, in mountains near Grayson, CA.
1893: An account by Theodore Roosevelt was published in The Wilderness Hunter. Roosevelt related a story which was told to him by "a beaten old mountain hunter, named Bauman" living in Idaho. Some have suggested similarities to Bigfoot reports. (Note: Roosevelt's testimony is the only evidence this encounter ever occurred). A real Bigfoot footage sighting indeed. Too bad they could not take any bigfoot pics back then.

1924: Albert Ostman claimed to have been kidnapped and held captive for several days by a family of sasquatch. The incident occurred during the summer in Toba Inlet, British Columbia.

1924: Fred Beck and four other miners claimed to have been attacked by several sasquatch in Ape Canyon in July, 1924. The creatures reportedly hurled large rocks at the miners’ cabin for several hours during the night. This case was publicized in newspaper reports printed in 1924.
1941: Jeannie Chapman and her children claimed to have escaped their home when a large sasquatch, allegedly 7½ feet tall, approached their residence in Ruby Creek, British Columbia.

1958: Two construction workers, Leslie Breazale and Ray Kerr, reported seeing a sasquatch about 45 miles northeast of Eureka, California. Sixteen-inch tracks had previously been spotted in the northern California woods.
1967: On October 20, 1967, Roger Patterson and Robert Gimlin captured a purported sasquatch on film in Bluff Creek, California in what would come to be known as the Patterson-Gimlin film.

1970: A family of bigfoot-like creatures called "zoobies" was observed on multiple occasions by a San Diego psychiatrist named Dr. Baddour and his family near their Alpine, California home, as reported in an interview with San Diego County Deputy Sheriff Sgt. Doug Huse, who investigated the sightings.
1995: On August 28, 1995, a TV film crew from Waterland Productions pulled off the road into Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and filmed what they claimed to be a sasquach in their RV's Headlights.

2005: On April 16, 2005, A creature resembling bigfoot was seen on the bank of the Nelson River in Norway House, Manitoba. The forty seconds of footage was captured by ferry operator Bobby Clarke from across the Nelson River. Sadly no bigfoot footage or photo were taken.
Bigfoot Sasquatch, is a figure in North American folklore alleged to inhabit remote forests, mainly in the Pacific northwest region of the United States and the Canadian province of British Columbia. In northern Wisconsin, Lakota Indians know the creature by the name Chiye-tanka, a Lakota name for "Big Elder Brother". Bigfoot is sometimes described as a large, hairy bipedal hominoid, similar to other legends of bipeds around the world under different regional names, such as the Yeti of Tibet and Nepal, the Yeren of mainland China, and the Yowie of Australia. They needed bigfoot footage though.

Description: According to most accounts, Bigfoot pics is a powerfully built bipedal apelike creature between 7 and 10 feet (2.10 and 3 meters) tall, and covered in dark brown or dark reddish hair. The head seems to sit directly on the shoulders, with no apparent neck. Alleged witnesses have described large eyes, a pronounced brow ridge, and a large, low-set forehead; the top of the head has been described as rounded and crested, similar to the sagittal crest of the male gorilla. You decide, is bigfoot real? Be sure to check out oregon bigfoot too, great place for more sightings and Bigfoot Footage, bigfoot pics. Bigfoot Must Die coming soon!

Compare the description of Bigfoot/Sasquatch with Neanderthal Man:

WHERE TO FIND THE GIANTS/NEPHILIM IN THE BIBLE:

ji'-ants The word appears in the King James Version as the translation of the Hebrew words nephilim ( ); repha'im ( , etc.); rapha' ( ), or raphah ( ); in one instance of gibbor, literally, "mighty one" ( ).

In the first two cases the Revised Version (British and American) changes "giants" into the Hebrew words "Nephilim," nephilim, and "Rephaim," repha'im, respectively. The "Nephilim of are not to be confounded with the "mighty men" subsequently described as the offspring of the unlawful marriages, of "the sons of God" and "the daughters of men." It is told that they overspread the earth prior to these unhallowed unions. That the word, whatever its etymology, bears the sense of men of immense stature is evident from the later passages; . The same is true of the "Rephaim," as shown by the instance of Og ( ). There is no doubt about the meaning of the word in the ease of the giants mentioned in and .

When did Giants live?

Anthropologists have found evidence of humanoid giants existing into the far distant past, over 1 million years ago (see Gigantopithecus). Since then it is possible that numerous civilizations, troupes and tribes of human and human-like giants lived and perished across planet earth.

Those mentioned in the Bible, Nephilim, Emim and Anakim, may have been a tiny element of a once expansive human giant civilization, especially before the Great Flood of the Bible, and other sources.

Giants (1.) Heb. nephilim , meaning "violent" or "causing to fall" (Gen 6:4). These were the violent tyrants of those days, those who fell upon others. The word may also be derived from a root signifying "wonder," and hence "monsters" or "prodigies." In Num 13:33 this name is given to a Canaanitish tribe, a race of large stature, "the sons of Anak." The Revised Version, in these passages, simply transliterates the original, and reads "Nephilim." (2.) Heb. rephaim , a race of giants (Deu 3:11) who lived on the east of Jordan, from whom was descended. They were probably the original inhabitants of the land before the immigration of the Canaanites. They were conquered by Chedorlaomer (Gen 14:5), and their territories were promised as a possession to Abraham (Gen 15:20). The Anakim, Zuzim, and Emim were branches of this stock. In Job 26:5 (R.V., "they that are deceased;" marg., "the shades," the "Rephaim") and Isa 14:9 this Hebrew word is rendered (A.V.) "dead." It means here "the shades," the departed spirits in Sheol. In Sam2 21:16, Sam2 21:18, Sam2 21:20, 33, "the giant" is (A.V.) the rendering of the singular form ha raphah, which may possibly be the name of the father of the four giants referred to here, or of the founder of the Rephaim. The Vulgate here reads "Arapha," whence Milton (in Samson Agonistes) has borrowed the name "Harapha." (See also Ch1 20:5, Ch1 20:6, Ch1 20:8; Deu 2:11, Deu 2:20; Deu 3:13; Jos 15:8, etc., where the word is similarly rendered "giant.") It is rendered "dead" in (A.V.) Psa 88:10; Pro 2:18; Pro 9:18; Pro 21:16 : in all these places the Revised Version marg. has "the shades." (See also Isa 26:14.) (3.) Heb. 'Anakim (Deu 2:10, Deu 2:11, Deu 2:21; Jos 11:21, Jos 11:22; Jos 14:12, Jos 14:15; called "sons of Anak," Num 13:33; "children of Anak," Num 13:22; Jos 15:14), a nomad race of giants descended from Arba (Jos 14:15), the father of Anak, that dwelt in the south of Palestine near Hebron (Gen 23:2; Jos 15:13). They were a Cu****e tribe of the same race as the Philistines and the Egyptian shepherd kings. David on several occasions encountered them (Sam2 21:15). From this race sprung Goliath (Sa1 17:4). (4.) Heb. 'emin , a warlike tribe of the ancient Canaanites. They were "great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims" (Gen 14:5; Deu 2:10, Deu 2:11). (5.) Heb. Zamzummim (q.v.), Deu 2:20 so called by the Amorites. (6.) Heb. gibbor (Job 16:14), a mighty one, i.e., a champion or hero. In its plural form (gibborim) it is rendered "mighty men" (2 Sam. 23:8-39; Kg1 1:8; 1 Chr. 11:9-47; Ch1 29:24.) The band of six hundred whom David gathered around him when he was a fugitive were so designated. They were divided into three divisions of two hundred each, and thirty divisions of twenty each. The captains of the thirty divisions were called "the thirty," the captains of the two hundred "the three," and the captain over the whole was called "chief among the captains" (Sam2 23:8). The sons born of the marriages mentioned in Gen 6:4 are also called by this Hebrew name.

Mysteries Hidden in Central Asia`s Mountains By Alexey Schetnikov

Kyrgyzstan, April 16, 2001 BISHKEK. (TCA) -- Traveling in the mountains of southern Kyrgyzstan, you will be surely told stories about the yeti living here. Do not rush to say that these stories are simply beautiful fairy-tales aimed to lure credulous tourists. Maybe the yeti really exist in the most remote corners of Kyrgyz mountains - the realm of eternal snow and mountain spirits? Local shepherds and hunters describe the yeti as a tall humanoid more than two meters high, his entire body and face are covered with dense dark hairs, and he walks very fast and half-bent. The yeti has a poor sight but very good hearing and a fine sense of smell. He eats mostly wild goats and rodents, but sometimes, when hungry, he can kill a wolf. However, the yeti and wolves generally respect each other and are not rivals.

The fact that nobody has ever found bones of a dead yeti is explained very simply by locals: like extinct mammoths, the yeti have a secret cemetery high in the mountains where they go to die when they feel the coming of death. According to local aksakals (elderly men), in the early 20th century a shepherd found in a deep canyon a cave with large human bones. Fearing the
rage of the yeti, the aksakals gathered for a council and decided to block the entrance to the cave with rocks and forget the way there.

Many local hunters claim they know places where you can meet the yeti. Such places are located high in the mountains. You have to ascend there by horse, taking a whole day, and then wait in ambush for 1-2 days to see the yeti. These places are usually very ominous (mostly deep canyons with a mountain river rolling with a terrible noise, which makes you feel that somebody is murmuring behind your back).

But even if you have dared to get there, it does not give you a 100-percent guarantee that you will meet the yeti. Only a few hunters who will be your guides on this trip would claim they have seen the yeti with their own eyes. They will take you to the most picturesque mountain places and, in case of failure, they will simply say that you were not lucky.

But you should not be upset because you can easily see and take photo pictures of the yeti depicted on rocks. There are a lot of rock drawings of the yeti in the local mountains because he was a totem animal of ancient Kyrgyz tribes.

Most legends associate the yeti with the village of Choo at the mountain lake of Mazarkol. This lake is very peculiar - it has a shape of two adjacent funnels with a diameter of about 30 meters each. Local residents believe these funnels are bottomless. The water in the lake is black and contains hydrogen sulphide. The lake does not freeze even in the coldest winters when the air temperature reaches -40 degrees Celsius. The locals believe this lake is sacred and do not come close to the water. It is even more dangerous to approach the shore on horse - the horse will suddenly stop and you will be thrown ahead on rocks. If you approach the shore on foot, at the place where the horse stopped, you will feel that the lake, like a strong magnet, repulses you back.

Another strange place is Kargash. Here, on the abrupt riverbank, stands a sandstone column with a height of nearly 70 meters and a basement diameter of 20 meters. The column narrows towards its top on which lays a square granite plate, each side of which is some 10 meters. Nobody knows the origin of this wonder of nature. Probably it has been formed by the wind polishing fragile sandstone for many centuries.

This place is also considered sacred and its defilement is severely punished. A couple of years ago two soldiers from a nearby border guard checkpoint and shot at the column, trying to bring it down. In a week both soldiers died. The local doctor made a diagnosis: poisoning. But aksakals said they punished by Allah.

Uzbekistan, which is famous mostly for its ancient cities and architecture also has some mysterious and picturesque mountain areas. One of them is located in the Karatau mountains, in a famous place called Dzhinnoty in southern Uzbekistan which means "the Valley of Spirits."
For centuries local residents have considered the valley a holy place, the home of both good and evil spirits. In ancient times pagan tribes used the place for worshipping their gods.

Archaeologists have found many pagan altars here. Later when Islam came to Central Asia this place also served as a holy place, this time for Muslims. A great variety of ancient tribes and people replaced each other for many centuries, but all of them asked for the protection of the Spirits of the Valley. The spirits helped the strong and good and punished base and cowardly people.

In the time of Soviet atheism, people stopped fearing the spirits and begin to destroy natural monuments and use its pieces for building houses. But, fortunately, this destruction was stopped after the establishment in Dzhinnoty of a national park.

Some figures here are so expressive and beautiful that you cannot believe they been created without human hands. But all these beauties have been created by the never-ending work of the best architects, wind and water, which have been working hard to change the look of the mountains for many centuries. Many times this hard work was ruined by earthquakes, which have left many gigantic rock pieces scattered here and there.

On the top of a huge rock there is a large stone figure resembling a bear. This stone bear looks down on the Zaravshan Valley, as though protecting it from unwanted guests. As you go farther, you will see a gallery of stone figures created by the greatest of sculptors - Nature.

Here you can see two large lizards, and not far from them - according to a legend - the head of a dragon cut off by the ancient warrior Ahmed. The dragon's mouth can accommodate several people! Tourists like to take pictures in this mouth, but never write on the dragon's head something like "I was here" because the dragon can awake and close its stone mouth.

A huge figure of an old man stands and looks at the strange creature with the head of a horse, running to him. At sunset, the eyes of the old man seem to sparkle with light. Scholars explain this phenomenon by shining crystals of minerals contained in the rock, but local people believe that's because the old man was a wizard.

There are so many bizarre figures all around (including the character who wrote this article): a huge witch looking as though she has just stepped out of a fairy-tale, a large dog the size of a house and a great variety of hybrids looking like mixtures of lizards, bats, and a snake together. Looking at this fantastic stone world, one can understand why ancient people who lived here thousands years ago believed in spirits, mountain ghosts, demons, and other supernatural forces.

An Abominable Snowman Appeared in the Mountains of Kyrgyzstan

Hunters in the Mountains of Naryn region, found traces of unknown creature, reports AiF-Novosti. The scholars made a photo and a trace of its foot. The length of the foot is 45 cm and width is 35 cm. Experts believe that the hominid (if it was a hominid) could come to the Kyrgyz mountains from the neighboring Pamir, where it was frightened by Tajik militants.

Dear Quasar,

I just posted my read on Gen 6:4 regarding the Nephilim. It seems to me that the writer was not indicating the Nephilim were wicked....the writer seems to be using this class of being as a 'marker of time'.

God tells us how wicked "man" was and how ever intention of his heart was evil. God even tells us His 'Sons' had relations with the daughters of me and had offspring. But the way I read the scripture it does not say they were Nephilim; they were some other half breed of a giant.

The Hebrew word that intrigues me is the translation of 'old'...using my LEXICAL AID, I discovered that the word has some deep meaning that perhaps we should consider. The Hebrew word Owlam speaks to what is hidden, concealed (i.e. to the vanishing point); time immemorial; antiquity.

Why would the writer use 'old' when describing the Nephilim if they were the wicked, evil species? It seems that maybe Moses came back and edited some verses that made things very cloudy for us.

My personal opinion is that there were more than one species of 'giant' but only one species that were 'mighty men who were of old, men of renown'. As if people told stories about the great heroic acts of the Nephilim and used them as a point of reference to the past...to antiquity.

I'm writing a fiction book with the so called, 'Nephilim'. But not by that name-not finished yet. I've got three plots going each with several subplots but it all ties together.

Recently I've learned to focus a little more on the when more than the what.

I believe cultures of antiquity (i.e., Sumerian... Mesopotamia) had to have been much more advanced if the tenants of Creationism are true. Agree?

I believe the so called 'Bigfoot' is a descendant of or is in fact the Nephilim. If they were not the wicked beings that traditional thinking leads us to believe Gods mercy would have covered them. Agree?

Science, History, Archaeology, Anthropology, Antiquity are all subjects of interest to me.

Well, thanks for listening to me...when I get my book finished I will get you a copy. Ha!

Any other writers out there?

According to the Scriptures, the Nephilim were indeed very wicked, and are literally the demons in Jesus time as well as to this very day!  Review the following:

Demons are the earthbound spirits of the dead giants [nephilim]The Jewish historian Josephus, writing of the time of the Exodus and conquest of Canaan, tells us further:"There were till then left the RACE OF GIANTS, who had bodies so large, and countenances so entirely different from other men, that they were surprising to the sight, and terrible to the hearing. The bones of these men are still shown to this very day, unlike to any credible relations of other men" (Ant., V,ii,3).The Apocrypha claim the disembodied giants [Nephilim] are the origin of demons, and accuse them of many crimes. Jubilees places the blame for the Flood squarely upon the fornication of the Watchers and the iniquity and bloodshed of the Nephilim. "And now the giants who were born from souls and flesh will be called evil spirits upon the earth," charges I Enoch XV-XVI, "From the day of...the slaughter and destruction of the giant Nephilim, the mighty ones of the earth, the great famous ones, the spirits that have gone out from their souls as from the flesh will destroy without judgment."Even the mortal women who are their mothers are cursed to become sirens and demonesses. In Jubilees X:1-6, Noah's sons beg him to protect their children from "unclean demons" who are "leading astray, blinding and killing" them; Noah, petitioning God to "let not wicked spirits rule over [my grandchildren] and destroy them", adds, "Thou knowest what thy Watchers, the fathers of these spirits, did in my day..." making it clear that the demonic spirits and the Nephilim are considered one and the same. (One wonders if Kainam was one of these grandchildren being "led astray" by a "demonic" Nephilim familiar. Maybe it was helping him interpret the stone...)

Earthbound spirits of the dead giants [Nephilim] are the demons Jesus dealt with.Jesus spoke of these evil spirits -- He cast out many demons from people, throughout His ministry, and gave this same authority to His servants. Early in His ministry, He encountered an extremely violent and super-strong demoniac who dwelt among the tombs near the sea of Galilee."When he reached the opposite side, the country of the Gadarenes, he was met by two demons who ran out of the tombs; they were so violent that nobody could pass along the road there. They shrieked, 'Son of God, what business have you with us? Have you come here to torture us before it is time? Now, some distance away, there was a large drove of swine grazing; so the demons begged him saying, 'If you are going to cast us out, send us into that drove of swine.' He said to them, 'Begone!' So out they came and went to the swine, and the entire drove rushed down the steep slope into the sea and perished in the water" (Matt.8:28-32, Moffatt translation). As God's servants, with the Holy Spirit of God dwelling within us (Rom.8:9-10; 5:32), we do not have to fear or be afraid of these demonic spirits. Jesus gave His disciples power and authority to CAST OUT demons, just as He did, setting an example!"And summoning his twelve disciples he gave them power over unclean spirits, power to cast them out and also to heal every sickness and disease" (Matt.10:1, Moffatt). This commission and charge was not just for the original disciples and apostles. It was an on-going commission and commandment for the Church of God throughout the ages! Notice! In His final instructions to the disciples,Jesus declared: "And he said to them, 'Go to all the world and preach the gospel to every creature: he who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who will not believe shall be condemned. And as for those who believe, these miracles will follow: they will cast out demons in my name . . ." (Mark 16:15-17, Moffatt).Jude says these wicked angels left their own "habitation" (Jude 6). The word is oiketerion in Greek, and is also used in II Corinthians 5:2 -- "For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven." Says Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of this word, it means, "habitation, house." Thus these angels left their own spirit body, and took on human form! That is how they accomplished this despicable, rebellious act of lust and wanton disregard for the laws of God. The result? Tragedy beyond measure. Wickedness supreme. Murder, lawlessness, and mayhem unparalleled in the history of the entire Universe!

The progeny of these rebellious angels were called "giants" -- Nephilim in the Hebrew. These were monsters of iniquity, and being superhuman in size and character had to be destroyed once and for all. This grievous intermarriage was an insidious attempt by Satan the devil to prevent the coming of the promised "Seed" of the woman to redeem the human race. He thought that he would pervert and corrupt the blood-line of human beings, so that the Messiah could not be born! It was also an abortive attempt to "play God" on the part of Satan and his fallen angels -- to duplicate and copy God 's plan of procreation!Interestingly, these "half-breeds" of angels and women -- these offspring of the union of wicked angels and women -- since they are not truly "human" in the full sense of the word, have no place in the plan of God, and will not be in the resurrection. They will not be resurrected from the grave in the time to come of the great Judgment. The very name, Rephaim, in the Hebrew comes from the root rapha which means not only "giant," but also "lax," that is, "ghost," "as dead," "dead, deceased." Says Gesenius Hebrew-Chaldee Lexicon, "flaccid, feeble, weak, only in plural." This authority states, "According to the opinions of the ancient Hebrews, void of blood and animal life, therefore weak and languid like a sick person." Isaiah 26:14 speaks of them, but their name is translated "deceased." Notice! "They are dead, they are deceased [Rephaim], they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish." Isn't it interesting to note that many of the so-called "aliens" which have been "seen" by various people, when described, all appear rather weak, flaccid, limp, and feeble in appearance, lacking energy and vitality?By: William F.
