The Bible speaks of Satan being cast down to the earth out of heaven, then later being abyssed for 1000 years.  After the 1000 years, Satan is released from the abyss and he goes forth and causes many people to rebel.  Just who are these people whom Satan is causing to rebel?   Revelation 20:7, 8:

7 "Now as soon as the thousand years have been ended, Satan will be let loose out of his prison, 8 and he will go out to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Ma´gog, to gather them together for the war. The number of these is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they advanced over the breadth of the earth and encircled the camp of the holy ones and the beloved city. But fire came down out of heaven and devoured them."

Who are these people?  And who is Gog of Magog?

First of all, the present population of the world is now around 7 billion people.  The prophecied 70th week  [7 years] of Daniel 9:27, the 7 year tribulation, will soon take place.  When it is over, it will kill two thirds of the 7 billion people on earth, to approximately 2.33 billion, according to Zech.13:8.  Jesus will establish His 1,000 year kingdom on earth, according to Rev.20:6, after throwing Satan into the Abyss for 1,000 years, in Rev.20:1-3, and the 2.33 billion will all be Jesus subjects.

Notice, in the first resurrection, all the participants will be made priests of God and of Christ, in Rev.20:4 and 6. None of the 2.33 billion people will be saved when the 7 year tribulation begins, or they would have been raptured with the Church before the 7 year tribulation begins, according to Jn.14:2-4, 26; 1 Thess.4:16-17 and 2 Thess.2:1-8.

God will place 144,000 converted Israelite evangelists on the earth from heaven, in Rev.7:1-8, as He will also do with His two witnesses of Rev.11:3.  They will bring millions to the Lord in the absence of the departed Church as recorded in Rev.7:9-17.  Most of whom paid for their salvation with their lives according to Rev.20:4.

However, when the 1,000 years in the reign of Christ here on earth, Satan will be released.  He will rebel against God and establish a huge army of all the people of the earth, who never came to belief in Jesus during the tribulation.

Satan will bring them up against God's people surrounding Jerusalem, and God will destroy Satan's armie and throw Satan into the lake of fire, where he will remain forever, in Rev.20:7-10.

Isn't it amazing that people born during the 1,000 yrs will have perfect conditions and Christ ruling and they still will rebel? Truly our hearts are evil. It is the same way now in that many still insist the world is getting better.

If it wasn't for the sacrifice of Christ, there are none that would be saved.

Romans 1:17, For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:"The righteous will live by faith."

When the seven year tribulation is over, out of around 7 billion world population, only 2,33 billion will survive it, according to Zech.13:8.  Of those, there will be many unsaved people who will participate in Jesus 1,000 year kingdom.  But Jesus will rule them with a rod of iron and peace will reign during that entire period, with Satan chained and locked up in the Abyss.

It's hard to understand the mindset of anyone who think they can win out over God in any aspect of life.

I noticed I neglected to answer your question regarding Gog and Magog.  I suggest you review Ex.38 and 39 and Rev.20:7-8 for the Scriptural source of info on them.  Gog, it appears, is the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal.

You will find the location with maps and a good review about it in the following:

Quasar and larsinger I became so interested in this subject I picked up this piece of information:
Who are these nations today?

Gog (Rosh in some translations): The land north of the Black Sea. This is a reference to modern Russia or at least parts of it in this area north of the Black Sea.

Magog: Magog was the ancient land of the Schythians. This land is now what we call Central Asia (the "Stans") and possibly includes parts or all of Afghanistan.

Meshek (also Meshech) : Located within modern Turkey.Tubal: Located within modern Turkey.
Persia: The ancient land of Persia is located in modern Iran. In fact, Iran was called Persia until 1935, less than 100 years ago.
Ethiopia (also Cush) : Not modern Ethiopia, but known as the area now called Sudan (now North Sudan and perhaps parts of South Sudan).
Put: Modern Libya, possibly extending west beyond Libya to other North African nations.
Gomer: Located within modern Turkey.
Beth Togarmah: Located within modern Turkey.

Interestingly, some of the nations we would expect to stand in conflict with Israel are not listed. These include Egypt, Syria, and Iraq. This does not mean these and other nations may not be involved, but that this prophecy focuses on other nations that appear to be Israel's main opponents.

I always thought that only believers would come out of the tribulation(they will still be mortal) and the ones that come back with the Lord at His second coming. (the ones that were raptured and will have glorified bodies.)

The tribulation believers will have offspring and they all will have free will, they will have a sin nature and be able to choose Christ for salvation.

One of the sites I go to to find some answers is here: http://www.gotquestions.org/release-Satan.html

Satan knows his time is almost over and he seems to Hate as much as God loves. He wants to take every soul he can so they will be his and not God's. His army consists of the ones born in the 1,000 yrs and because they are born with the sin nature such as we have been, the ones that do not turn   to Christ for salvation will be his army.

Imagine, living with Christ and believers that went through the horror of the tribulation, hearing there stories and still not choosing the Lord. But it happened before when Christ walked on earth. Many chose Him and many chose the leading of their own hearts.  (with a little help from Satan and his demons) This time there will not be a battle. The last temptation is over and all people have had the chance and made their decisions and will receive accordingly.

Romans 1:17, For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:"The righteous will live by faith."

Thanks for mentioning that.  That characterizes this a bit differently.  But realize that even in heaven, the angels who see God directly, still rebelled.  1/3 of the angels rebelled against God's rule and joined Satan.  If we expect the same general percentages, it may be up to 1/3 of the post-millennial population will join Satan's rebellion.

THANKS.  This was basically what I understood as well.  Maybe it's rather straightforward.

As far as "Gog of Magog" goes, since it is key to the desolating of the Jews, some believe it must represent Nazism, that is, a concept that desolates the Jews at the time of the Holocaust.   Gog is destroyed after this, yet rises up again, that is, re-inspired by Satan when he is let loose at the end of the 1000 years.   If so, that means that Nazism is one of Satan's mater plans to divide mankind and get them to rebel against Christ at the end of the 1000 years.

Thanks, again, for your reflections.

That would hardly be possible according to Gog and Magog appearing in Rev.20:8-9, where they march against "God's people."  The time frame scenario there will be AFTER the 1,000 year reign of Christ is over, and has nothing at all to do with Nazi Germany.

And who are "God's people" at that stage of eschatology?  Rather than the two sheep pens of Jn.10:16, they will all be ONE FLOCK, with one shepherd, fulfilling that prophecy, consisting of both Jews and Gentiles, ALL THE ELECT of God, i.e. Israel and the Church.

You're welcome, larsinger58.
